By now you are all surely worshiping the Optimizer. You are welcome.
What I did is list the races from PH and PH2 along the side noting which attributes get bonuses. Then I listed the classes from the core books along the top. Then I crossreferenced which races get bonuses to both of the main attributes of the class build, noting the build in the cell.
For example, half-orcs get bonuses to str and dex. This makes them an optimal build for a guardian fighter, a brawny rogue, an archer ranger and a two-weapon ranger. Really?! An archer ranger but not a barbarian?! This tool blew my mind. I hope you like it, too.
What is the biggest suprise to you? Is it inspiring a new character idea for you?

Josh - just so you know they are allowing a play test for the new monk. The article isn't posted just yet but it will be in Dragon #375. I will email it to you when I get it. (If you don't have access to D&D Insider and the magazines.)

I just noticed something with the optimizer. Dwarf doesnt even have any defender role optimum builds. That is beyond stupid. most of the pargon builds and other racial benifits for them are defender based. Even when you think about them you imagine dwarves holed up in their underground cities virtully impenetrable hidden behind their shields and massive defenses. NOT "look at the dwarven druid and shaman flitting about the forest communing with the forest spirits". I guess my point is that contrary to what you said in one these posts Josh the optimizer does not always indicate what a race and culture are known for and more or less funnel them into a certain role or class.

Correct, the Optimizer does not. That's what I find facinating about it!

Ghostbusters. They just lost their grant and are trying to figuire out how to get Ghostbusters up in running. They're standing on the steps sharing a bottle of brass monkey in a brown paper bag. Egon(?) is asking questions and Dr. Vankmen(?) is saying, "I don't know, man. I just don't know."
