Javelineer (heroic feat)
Prerequisite: Str 13
Allows character to use all powers with melee weapon or two-handed melee weapon keyword while using javelin either as a melee weapon or as a ranged weapon, but only in short range.
Vicous Javelineer (paragon feat)
Prerequisite: Str 17, Javelineer
Allows character to use all powers with melee weapon or two-handed melee weapon keyword while using javelin either as a melee weapon or as a ranged weapon, both in short range or long range.
Legendary Javelineer (epic feat)
Prerequisite: Str 21, Vicious Javelineer
Enounter: Allows character to charge using his javelin range once per encounter.

I don't want you to dedicate too many brain cells to this post. Just an excercise to figuire out how to make a ranged barbarian, ala Shaka Zulu. No big deal. Don and I talked offline about it and felt the better way would be to create a seperate barbarian build called Hurler to address the issue of double dipping in melee and give him some seperate options. For example, the hurler gains sling and shield and the ability to use powers with ranged heavy thrown or slings; and looses the use of some or all powers in melee combat.

Great idea! Put it on the superior weapon list so it takes a feat to learn like a bastard sword.

try the avalanche hurler paragon path under rangers in the martial power book. it seems to be exactly what don is looking for.
